Star wars has one of the largest cult followings to date and it all started from the point of a pencil on the desk of a man in 1973 San Francisco. The birthplace of an intergalactic phenomenon lay in the heart of a city of beauty and creativity. George Lucas was no one to 99.9% of the planet aside from family and friends. And when he sat down and wrote those few words, The Star Wars, on the heading of his notebook paper, he had no I idea what he was about to create four years later. And when that illustrious day in history came, no one even had a clue what they were about to embark on when they watched that film, and it took the world in its hands and awed and amazed them.

Many spectators and industry buffs balked at the film and mocked Lucas for the craziness that his movie spewed forth. Some became firm believers in what was to be the new CLASSIC, others scoffed at his insane antics and views of this supposed futuristic world.  The story began as just a series and movie idea and after realizing its size and grandeur, Lucas turned it into a saga and trilogy with intricate parts to explain character background and interconnected relationships. Even the earlier versions of the story as late as 1977 did not include the twisted relationships of Anakin and Luke and the dreaded conversion to the dark side and it was expanded upon later.

It was on May 25th, 1977 that the official Star Wars film was released, day of days in the film industry’s history, and the biggest mark in Sci-Fi’s film history. So many films later that spawned reminisced the style and flair of the Star Wars. Upon it’s released huge fan clubs formed and entire world wide “galactic” movements formed over a period of now just passing 40 years. Since its inception, Star Wars has had fans clubs, toy lines, costume lines, and memorabilia that still tops the charts of Ebay today. The second and third movies, which are actually the fifth and sixth episodes or chapters in the saga were released years later.

There have been connected stories to the Star Wars theme created with the same back story. Movies like “The Ewok Adventure” work on a tangent of the original story based off characters from the original writings that were not included in the main motion picture. In recent years the last three movies, or the chronological first three episodes, were released in much higher definition and better technology. The special effects and computer graphics totally enhanced the entire Star wars experience and is what has made it the great presence that it is today.
